Last Friday at Cairns Convention Centre, Sammut Developments from the Sutherland Shire won one of the most prestigious awards in the building industry in Australia when they were presented with the HIA-CSR Housing Award for Australian Apartment Project of the Year, 2012. That project is Drift at 10-12 Gerrale St, Cronulla, 11 luxurious apartments in the heart of central Cronulla. HIA describes the apartments as having “house-like proportions, an extremely high level of workmanship and innovative and environmentally sustainable features”.
It is not the first National award that Allen and John Sammut of Sammut Developments have received and it is not the first award for Drift in Cronulla but it is one of the most highly regarded building industry award categories and brings with it the ultimate recognition of years of hard work, determination and skill.
I was honoured to be in attendance in Cairns when John and Allen Sammut were presented with their award in front of the best of the best builders in the country. Beach & Bay Realty were the selling agents for Drift so I knew first-hand what a stunning product they developed with Drift. We look forward to seeing their next development take shape, also in Cronulla.
I would like to thank Allen and John Sammut for their dedication to the highest level of craftsmanship and their commitment to the Sutherland Shire. Dismissed as “The Shire” it is people like Allen and John Sammut whose talent, hard work, determination and love of the Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire, will show the rest of Sydney and now Australia what we have to offer.
