Cronulla Quick Census Facts

by Kylie Emans on August 8, 2012

The statistics for Cronulla available from the Census 2011 show we have a population of 17,042 with just slightly more women than men (18). The median age for Cronulla-ites is 37 years old compared with for example Bondi which has an average of 33years. In Cronulla the weekly income is approx $1,455 and the median monthly mortgage is $2,275 and rent is $360 per week.

Compare this to Bondi for example, where they have a lower average age of 33years old, higher weekly income of $1,782 but they also have higher monthly mortgage repayments of $2708 and higher rent at $500 per week. Cronulla also has double the families to Bondi with 4498 family units compared with 2077 in Bondi but both surburbs have an average of 1.7 kids per family.

Maybe Channel Ten’s “The Shire” should have chosen to film at Bondi over family friendly Cronulla?
