Cronulla Spring Festival 2010

by Kylie Emans on September 9, 2010

I love the spring time. As we emerge from one of the coldest winters in recent years (it was on average 2 degrees colder than last year), the blankets are stowed away, the days become longer and everything just seems… well… better. The promise of long hot days in the sun seems to put everyone in a positive mood. This optimism is usually related to an increase flow of endorphins from the brain. Other triggers for endorphin release also include spicy foods; strenuous exercise; sunshine; and, believe it or not, shopping.

If you’re heading out this weekend, the Cronulla can offer you at least 1 out of those 4. Yes it’s that time of year again… the Cronulla Spring Festival (notice it’s a festival now – not a fair) is on this weekend! Live music, animal farms, fashion parades, martial arts, face painting and of course shopping will all be on offer all weekend from 10am to 5pm in the main drag of Cronulla. Over 100 stalls will be offering fashion, arts, crafts and food all along Cronulla Street and Cronulla Mall.

In recent years the Spring Fair/Festival seems to bring less-than-desirable weather (i.e. rain) but this year the weatherman is telling us clear skies, sunshine and mild temperatures all weekend. That’s settled then, there is no excuse not to head down and browse around!

I will offer one piece of advice though. If you do live in the Cronulla area, walk. Don’t bother driving. The only unfortunate thing about the Spring Fair is the traffic. It’s not as bad as peak summer time in Cronulla, but it’s always a shock after the dead roads of winter.
