Much consideration has gone into picking the winners for the Grind/I Love Cronulla photo competition. Richard and I were so surprised with the overwhelming response and we wanted to put as much thought into picking the winner as you did in taking the photos. We looked at the photos from lots of different perspectives trying to reduce the numbers to 1. In the end we gave up, we got it down to 12 and then we procrastinated for another couple of days. Luckily we have you choosing the “People’s Choice” Award so you might have an inkling of how hard this choice is!
Finally we decided that it might be easier if we thought what photo would we like to see hanging in our loungeroom.
So finally, we have 2 winning photos and we can not pick a winner out of these 2 so we are giving 2 Judges awards:

Richard describes Renny’s photo as vintage, could be the 1950’s and for me I envisage Darook Park being not such a bad place to be shipwrecked.
The 2nd winner has taken a photo which I thought was Blackwoods Beach but it is from the sunbathing spot at South Cronulla in front of Zimzala’s. Topless sunbaking girl with the gorgeous view in the background, is that not the perfect Cronulla image?
We would also like to mention 2 other photos that we both liked so we added a 2nd and 3rd prize:
2nd Prize goes to Katie Morton with the perfect storm shot over the beach
3rd Prize to Ben McGrath whose photo of the surfer and the lifeguard tower in the background summed up Cronulla to us.
