Mall Report: Cronulla shines in winter

by Kylie Emans on July 16, 2012

The superb weather continues and it seems that so do the school holidays, with the amount of school age students in the Mall today. Seriously stunning winter’s day and it is set to continue.

So on this day that will see “The Shire” launched on national tv, the real Cronulla-ites are enjoying all Cronulla has to offer. There aren’t too many dramatic changes since the last Mall report but there are some shops currently undergoing fit outs that look promising.

So first of all one of the 2 shops north of Velvet Jayne that have been sitting idle for a while, has been leased to a Japanese restaurant, Kanakawa – another Japanese restaurant I hear you say, well at least its not Thai or Mexican!

Heading south the ice-cream stores of Cronulla seem to be doing a roaring trade with Cold Rock and Frangipani with queues, hopefully it will help make up for the lousy summer we had.

Further south the former Funky Femme site is covered up and the new fit out is well underway. Rumours of which gourmet burger shop is going in here have included Moo Burger, Paul’s Hamburgers and Charlie & Co, my money is on the latter…

Harvey World Travel has moved to Miranda and sits vacant waiting for a tenant, we can live in hope that Max Brenner will come to Cronulla. The former Chimere site still sits vacant and there is a still no action at Beluga besides the DA application in the window (supposed to be a cafe).

Apart from that, it’s status quo in Cronulla.
