Cronulla Mall Report: Spring 2014

IMAG0684_1Welcome to Spring! So far we’ve had rain, wind and more rain, but we’re hoping for clear, sunny days next weekend for Cronulla’s annual Spring Festival! We heard The Flying Pig Collective will be here with the best pulled pork!

After bracing the cold, windy, drizzly weather today, we’re happy to announce there’s quite a few changes since our last report!

IMAG0659Walking to the Mall from the carpark, the first thing you’ll spot is the new Protein Bar in the corner, we’re yet to try it out but we’ve heard good things!

Once you’re in the Mall, you’ll notice a few updates:

  • The former Commonwealth Bank building is now a warehouse expo for a 14 day sale
  • Renovations near Code Orange
  • Kurrabar Cafe are hiring staff
  • Cronulla Pie Shop’s awning is still yet to be replaced
  • Australand’s Greenhills Beach shop is still vacant, feels like forever!
  • Body Pro Supplements store also for lease – sign says deposit has been taken, wonder what’s moving in here?!
  • Eclectic Home & Garden has split in two and word on the street is that a real estate franchise is moving in
  • The Lucky Dragon has new windows
  • Renovations near the southern newsagency (train station end)

IMAG0682Outside the Mall, Oporto has downsized to make room for new coffee shop Bianchini’s Espresso on the corner. They’re still working on the shop but hopefully it will open soon!

Next door, Balkan Restaurant is also renovating, plenty of changes to come!

Further down by the beach Simone’s on the Park still sits empty. We’d heard plans for a gym but no action has taken place. Hopefully someone will take advantage of the great location!

Leaving the Mall heading into the carpark you’ll notice the upgrades taking place in Croydon St carpark, hopefully this will ease traffic congestion!

Cronulla Mall Report: July 2014

IMAG0202We’re starting to feel the winter chill but that hasn’t kept people away from our beachside suburb! The beaches are certainly quieter but as per usual Cronulla is still a hub of activity.

One word comes to mind while walking through the Mall – sales! Some of these include:

  • All sale stock at Flirty under $30
  • Sales at Decisions Decisions
  • Winter store clearance at Forever Fashion
  • And many more!

IMAG0209_1Aside from Sportscraft that recently moved into the Mall, there haven’t been any other major changes.

The old Commonwealth Bank and Australand Greenhills Beach office are still looking to be leased.

IMAG0212_1The Cronulla Pie Shop have unfortunately lost their awning once again after a truck incident, but the customers still look happy enjoying the sunshine.

IMAG0215_1The much-loved Pirate Ship is undergoing some repairs and is scheduled to be out of action for a while, hopefully it will come back almost brand new!

Unfortunately Cronulla On Ice has ended but it was a major hit! We hope it comes back next year, hopefully even bigger this time!

Hopefully our stunning winter weather will stick around for the Sutherland 2 Surf this Sunday, hope to see you there!

Cronulla Mall Report: Sun, Sales & Spring Around The Corner

The Mall is filled with winter sun and winter sales making room for new spring stock in the coming weeks!

Starting from the northern end, the old Vodafone store still remains vacant as it has for some time now. I felt sorry for photo 4the lady from ANZ who had to stand out the front telling people the bank and ATM were closed due to a power failure! Meanwhile Cotton On have well and truly opened next to Cronulla Pie Shop.

The iconic Commonwealth Bank has officially relocated to the smaller premises down the Mall next to Subway and Allouche’s Café & Eatery, which is currently undergoing some renovations. Also the old CBA premises is for lease and word is it has been divided into 3…

photo 3The Embassy have moved into the former newsagency next to Toni & Guy and are advertising pies, cakes and fresh sandwiches to come soon. Not sure when the new store will be open but we will keep you updated…

At the southern end of the Mall Lodown have 20% of all winter stock and jeans while the newly established hairdresser next to South of the Border, The Place, are looking for a full-time stylist – apply within.

20130813_111709Council work continues in several prime spots in Cronulla including the crossing near Oporto and on the grass at South Cronulla Beach near the Surf Club. They better hurry up as the Spring Fair is just around the corner!

Rumour has it that the former restaurant Simone’s on the Park overlooking South Cronulla Beach will soon become either Hurricane’s Bar & Grill or a gym, only time will tell…

photo 9If you think the weather is unseasonably hot, the real estate market in Cronulla and surrounding suburbs is even hotter. Fuelled by low interest rates and a severe shortage of stock,  prices are on the up and up as multiple buyers compete for the very few properties in our highly sought after area. Beach & Bay Realty just sold 13 Seaforth Ave, Woolooware (due to go to auction on 31st August) in just 5 days and 1 open house.

Anyone thinking of selling call us now and enjoy the benefits of this perfect seller’s market.

The Mall Report, Southern End vs Northern End

The Best Little Book Shop in Town

What a day to be out and about in the Mall, it may as well be summer and with school finishing today for the autumn break it looks like a few students might have taken an early mark.

The south end of the Mall is the focus again this week. It seems to need a little extra care and attention with so many shop vacancies!

Peking Duck Chinese restaurant is still closed after the fire in February and I am beginning to wonder if it will re-open?

Next up is The Best Little Book Shop in Town for their daily quote and today’s is perfect “Families are like fudge – mostly sweet with a few nuts!” I think most people would find this pretty accurate!

What would we like to go in here?!

A few doors up from the bookshop, the extra large Mitre 10 shop is officially vacant again as Emerald Surf Store, which was temporarily set up here, has now well and truly moved out and are in their new premises in Surf Rd.

Finally “You’ll love it” Cafe at 98 Cronulla Street has had its signage installed and its official name is “You’ll Love It – Budapest Cafe Restaurant and French Patisserie! The cakes look to die for.

Across the road at 81 Cronulla St, which has been vacant for over a year, rumour has it, and I stress this is only a rumour, that a display office will soon open for the sale of a new apartment development in Cronulla.

No replacement for Marie Simmone’s shoe shop so who knows where those ladies looking for high end  shoe fashion are shopping now, the new Shoe Superstore that has moved in further up the Mall is of the more casual kind!

And towards the north end of the Mall, Cronulla Pie Shop has finally received its new awning this week after it was vandalised a few months ago.

It’s a struggle to go back to work, my feet are steering me to the beach on such a gorgeous day!

Summer in April in Cronulla!

The Cronulla Mall Report: Welcome Froyo’s, Raywhite moves

How much can change in a week! As I walk up the mall today it is raining and about 15 degrees cooler than last week. Reporting on the north end of Cronulla Mall (from Rip Curl up) this week, the shop next to Priceline that used to be the Chemist and then a pop up store for several months, is now vacant again. We’ll let you know what ends up here when we know!

The old chemist is now vacant again

Opposite, Cronulla Pie Shop looks slightly naked without its awning that was ripped down by vandals a few weeks ago. Keep supporting this business & get takeaways!

Also, did you know that at the end of the day if they have any pies left over you can buy 5 for $10! (Note, this doesn’t always happen because they usually sell out, but if you’re in Cronulla Mall around 5pm, check!)

Less seating at Cronulla Pie Shop at the moment due to vandals

The so called “Real Estate Walk” is no longer, with a new business Froyo’s Cronulla opening on Australia Day (Previously Shire Properties had an office here).

Froyos is self serve, 98% fat free frozen yogurt with or without toppings. Open every day til late. Goodluck Froyo’s!

Froyo's have a Valentines Day special, next Monday head in with your partner to receive 2 Froyo's for $10 from 5pm - 8pm

This end of the mall seems to have fuller occupancy. Does anyone know how long Rundles has been around?

A little bit of news from the other end of the Mall, Ray White Cronulla seems to be on the move to higher ground. The property displays are gone from the windows and a sign says new address is at 89a Cronulla St to the right and upstairs of the old office.

Cronulla Pie Shop Opens!

Cronulla Pie Shop opens up to the public today and I must say, I’m rather excited.

We haven’t had a speciality pie shop in Cronulla for quite some time and it really is an Aussie tradition. Whether you eat yours on a hot summers day, at the footie or while on smoko’ break, meat pies are ingrained in Aussie culture & where better to have a pie shop than right in Cronulla Mall!

I went up and had a chat with the owner yesterday and Greg told me a little bit about his business. Greg & his family are local Sutherland Shire residents and have previously owned a pie shop in Mittagong. Greg said he received over 150 job applicants from his little sign out the front – and has now employed and trained a staff of locals.

Cronulla Pie Shop will offer 15 types of pies, both meat & vegetarian, & they also bake fresh cakes every day on premises. There is plenty of seating space in the mall & the shop has been beautifully fitted out, looking very fresh & modern.

At Beach & Bay we offer holiday accommodation properties in Cronulla & also sell Cronulla real estate so love to know exactly what is going on in the area.

Being a small independent agency we also love to support local small businesses and so encourage anyone and everyone to go try a pie!

Cronulla Pie Shop is located in Cronulla Mall – Cronulla Street. (Next door to Rundles & Payless shoes.)
