Welcome to Spring! So far we’ve had rain, wind and more rain, but we’re hoping for clear, sunny days next weekend for Cronulla’s annual Spring Festival! We heard The Flying Pig Collective will be here with the best pulled pork!
After bracing the cold, windy, drizzly weather today, we’re happy to announce there’s quite a few changes since our last report!
Walking to the Mall from the carpark, the first thing you’ll spot is the new Protein Bar in the corner, we’re yet to try it out but we’ve heard good things!
Once you’re in the Mall, you’ll notice a few updates:
The former Commonwealth Bank building is now a warehouse expo for a 14 day sale
Renovations near Code Orange
Kurrabar Cafe are hiring staff
Cronulla Pie Shop’s awning is still yet to be replaced
Australand’s Greenhills Beach shop is still vacant, feels like forever!
Body Pro Supplements store also for lease – sign says deposit has been taken, wonder what’s moving in here?!
Eclectic Home & Garden has split in two and word on the street is that a real estate franchise is moving in
The Lucky Dragon has new windows
Renovations near the southern newsagency (train station end)
Outside the Mall, Oporto has downsized to make room for new coffee shop Bianchini’s Espresso on the corner. They’re still working on the shop but hopefully it will open soon!
Next door, Balkan Restaurant is also renovating, plenty of changes to come!
Further down by the beach Simone’s on the Park still sits empty. We’d heard plans for a gym but no action has taken place. Hopefully someone will take advantage of the great location!
Leaving the Mall heading into the carpark you’ll notice the upgrades taking place in Croydon St carpark, hopefully this will ease traffic congestion!
With all the rain and bleak weather lately, Summer has well and truly left our sights as we head into the colder months…
Walking down the Mall from the north end, Little Paw Café has added some colour to the Mall with their bright umbrellas, similar to Oregano Café’s colourful outdoor setting.
There are some Autumn sales throughout the Mall – Forever Fashion has 20-40% off selected items and Freelance Shoes is offering a “buy 1 pair and get the 2nd pair half price” sale for all you shoe lovers.
The former iconic Commonwealth Bank is still For Lease and has been for quite a long time now. Chocpad also remains vacant with For Lease signs in the window as well.
Opposite South Cronulla Beach, Splatt “Coffee By Day, Wine By Night” has new signage up and looks ready to open the doors shortly we hope.
Simone’s On The Park still remains vacant, will anything ever re-open here?!
Just walked past Beach & Bay’s sold sticker on 5/5 McDonald St which went up last night. Happy days for our vendors and purchasers. We love selling in Cronulla, now a food, wine and property hot spot! Cronulla is well and truly on the map!
The Cronulla Easter Show is only 10 days away, time to prepare ourselves for a weekend full of activities, show bags, rides, food and of course, chocolate! See you there!
Clipper City on the Kingsway opened last week, we wish them all the best!
The old Vodafone store is finally occupied! Code Orange has moved in with a variety of clothing and accessories.
Kurrabar café (formerly Stonefish) next to Decisions Decisions opened today, has anyone tried it? Let us know what you think!
Dreamshack has a For Lease sign above it, any ideas what will take its place in the mall? Possibly another café, Mexican or Japanese restaurant?! The For Lease sign still sits behind the glass in the old Commonwealth Bank, still wondering what will happen to this iconic building?
“The Shire” local bank has opened up next to Mad Mex, does anyone know if this is the new name of the Sutherland Credit Union? Or a brand new bank?
Chocpad has re-opened but you have to get in fast on the busier nights or you’ll be left out in the cold! They seem to open later in the day now but stay open later at night for dessert.
Simone’s On The Park is still vacant overlooking South Cronulla. Rumours were that a gym was moving in but so far there has been no action…
Old Vinnies store on Gerrale St is covered with For Lease signs, hopefully another opportunity for a new business to open up.
You’d have to be hiding under a rock not to know that it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday. There are no excuses this year, buy your mum a present! In Cronulla you are spoilt for choices. I Love Cronulla likes to support local so if you are an uninspired individual (probably male!) here’s some options to make you the most popular!
Dreamshack, an iconic Cronulla view on canvas
A winter scarf from Blue Illusion
Winter PJ’s from Velvet Jane
South of the Border dress or South American shawl
Eclectic gift voucher so she can choose her own
Hazards swimwear for that northern hemisphere summer holiday
Brunch at Cronulla’s many restaurants and cafes including Sealevel, Alley Break, Zimzala, Simone’s On The Park, Papa’s, The Old Library, Summersalt, Matthew Flinders and La Cucina
Or pampering at the many hairdressers or day spas in Cronulla
Shop openings and closures
In the last 24 hours, 2 shops have opened
Days Like These
A Touch of Eden
Days Like These sells mens and womens clothing and has opened up in the previously CharBella shop in between Bang On and HAM Cafe. A Touch of Eden which is a combination of vintage and coffee shop has opened today next door to South of The Border and opposite Monro Park.
Cronulla’s latest restaurant, The Balkan on Gerrale St (next to Vinnies), is open Tuesday to Sunday for dinner and also Saturday & Sunday for lunch. It seems that the Code Orange store that has been vacant for ages next door to Noodle Inn will soon be the new location for Flex Nutrition.
Two businesses that have closed in the last few weeks include EAT restaurant next to La Cucina (opposite Cronulla Park) and Ocean 7 in the Mall.
PS: If you won the Lotto this week ring us because we have some stunning properties that we are marketing at the moment – make it a Mother’s Day that your mum will never ever forget and buy her a new home!
