NSW Lifesaving Season has commenced

group_flags.x300The official start to beach season kicked off over the weekend with a record number of nippers jumping back into the waters across NSW. 21,000 volunteer lifesavers in red and yellow will patrol our beaches on weekends and public holidays from now until Autumn.

On Saturday 21st September over twenty thousand volunteer lifesavers from 129 clubs were back at work patrolling approximately 200 beaches across NSW.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who work around the clock and give up their time to ensure that we all stay safe on our beaches.

It is also the ideal time to remember that although our beaches are beautiful, they can also be very dangerous and even deadly at times. Dr. Rip visits Cronulla often to educate all ages on the dangers of rips and we look forward to welcoming him back again sometime soon hopefully (stay tuned for more details). In the meantime, Dr. Rip’s Facebook page is filled with information on how to stay safe in the surf.

Hopefully this Spring weather continues and we can all enjoy some safe swimming over the next few months!
