The Nuns Pool Cronulla

by Kylie Emans on August 13, 2010

Last Sunday some friends and I got together to have an impromptu breakfast at Cronulla. Since it was such a gorgeous day we arrived early at the Nun’s Pool to get a prized position on the terrace overlooking Shelly Beach.

I have a real problem with Sunday breakfast/brunch options in Cronulla and I don’t think many menus are up to scratch.

I was instantly optimistic when I saw the Nuns Pool menu as there was several things that appealed and there are a few really different options too, not your run of the mill breakfast choices that’s for sure.

I chose the mushroom option which consisted of every mushroom you can think of (swiss, brown, shiitake etc) sautéed on a bed of grilled polenta and topped with capsicum jam. Yum!

One of my friends had the famous sweet corn fritters (The Nuns Breakfast) and one had the Mezze plate. All with coffee of course.

My breakfast was to die for, I absolutely love mushrooms at the moment so I might be biased but the polenta and capsicum jam all worked together like a treat!

The Nuns Pool has always been good at fritters (zucchini & haloumi fritters, sweet corn fritters) etc but my friend was even tempted to order more they were so good.

The mezze plate was good too but my friend who ordered this wished she had been more adventurous because ours was just so delicious. We shared of course.

The only negative was I had to look over a For Sale board of a competing agent who is selling one of the apartments above the Nuns Pool. I think Anthony, the owner is just as unimpressed about that board blocking his customers view of Shelly Beach as I was!

After that the 3 of us went off to Cronulla’s Chain Reaction bike shop and bought scooters! So stay tuned for more reviews from my new scooter gang as we scoot our way across Cronulla’s cafe’s!
